This week, we continued to work on our feathers for our team project. We traced feathers on our painted paper, then we cut them out and we decorated them with white pencil crayons. We made our designs symmetrical, that means they were the same on both sides. We read the book "I Wish You More" and each student made a wish for the students at CJFS and we wrote them on our feathers with sharpies. Our teachers put them up on the wall to make an amazing rainbow bird. When you come to parent teacher conferences don't forget to stop and take a picture.
We have started to read the book "The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown. We are taking part in the Global Read Aloud , which means there are students reading the book at the same time all over the world. We are connecting with 2 classes from Wisconsin.
In Science this week we learned about the layers of the Earth. We watched this video to learn about the Earth. We also started some writing about rocks and look forward to you finding the rock that we wrote about during conferences.
In Language Arts we have started reading responses. A reading response is when you read a book and then write a response about the book. You can make connections to the text, write about the problem, the setting, the characters, make predictions, ask questions... The two books that we practiced this with were "When I Was Eight" and "Not My Girl". They were both by the same authors and told the story of a girl named Margaret (Olemaun) who went to residential school.
