Tonight is Family movie night in the gym. It costs $3 for a family, and students must be accompanied by an adult. Popcorn, juice and water will be sold for $1. The movie is "The Secret Life of Pets".
In Social Studies, we have started to learn about Ukraine. We have learned about some of the food that they eat, that the weather is similar to ours, some of their traditions and holidays. In Art, we are drawing and painting Ukrainian nesting dolls using water colour pencil crayons.
In Science, we had a challenge to build a bridge out of newspaper, and tape that could span a distance of 30 cm and hold weight. Some of the groups were successful, they were able to do both. Some of the groups build a bridge that could hold weight, but were not long enough to meet the requirements. Some of the groups made tubes out of newspaper and then covered the tubes to make their bridge. These bridges were able to hold a lot of weight. One of the groups knew that triangles are a strong shape to use when building and made their bridge out of triangles, unfortunately it was not sturdy enough to hold any weight.
In math this week we have continued with multiplication and division. Miss Macleod's group has been working on strategies for multiplying 2 digit by one digit numbers. Mrs McLellan's group has been working on strategies for division of numbers up to 25
