June 15 2018

June has been a busy month with Sports Day and field trips.

This week the students in room 12 and 14 went to the Calgary Zoo.  In our inquiry work we have been looking at the question "What does a modern zoo need to think about when designing enclosures to meet the needs of humans and animals".  Students have researched an animal and designed an enclosure for their animal to live in.  Animals need: enrichment, food, water for drinking and cooling, health care, vegetation, shelter, companionship.  The best things that we saw at the zoo:

Arpit - "The bears because the were running around, climbing, playing in the water, chasing each other".

Reet "the pandas because the cubs kept on eating"

Lliam - 'There were two pandas sleeping"

Kaleb - "The lemurs because they can do basically whatever they want, they can play, climb and hide"

Dev ' I liked the Lemurs because both of the species were separated so they wouldn't fight"

Next week is our last full week of school.  We will be working on 3D models and digital presentations for our enclosures.

The last day of school is June 27th and it is a half day.  Students will be starting to bring home their work next week so they should make sure they have a bag.

Library Books are now due!  Please return all books to the learning commons.

Next Wednesday will be fun pizza lunch for lunchroom students.
