Week 12

This week in Language Arts, we have started some paragraph writing.  We wrote paragraphs about how we got our names and about our cultural clothing that our paper dolls are wearing.  We learned that a paragraph is 4 to 6 sentences on a related topic.  Each paragraph starts with a topic sentence which tells us what the paragraph is going to be about and ends with a concluding sentence which wraps everything up.

In gym this week, we learned how to shoot basketballs.  We learned proper techniques so that we can shoot with one hand.  We played some games and pretended that we were putting our hand in a cookie jar to learn the way to shoot.

In Social Studies this week, we looked at where the 5 countries (India, Tunisia, Peru, Ukraine and Canada were on a world map.   We have been looking at quality of life and how where you live affects it.  Some of the factors that affect quality of life are: clean air and water, income, shelter, education, employment, healthcare, food, government, family, recreation, and infrastructure (roads, bridges, buildings).

In Math this week we have continued to work on addition and subtractions.  Mrs McLellan's group has been challenged with math puzzles again.

On Thursday we had a lock down practice.  We need to have practices to help keep us safe in the event of an emergency.
