We completed our "Best Part of Me" writing. First, we read the book. Then we chose the best part of ourselves. Third, we organized our ideas using our graphic organizers. We wrote our rough copies and then used editing checklist to correct any errors. Then we wrote a good copy and had it put up with our photos of our best parts.
While examining quality of life, we saw some kids around the world and were shocked and surprised to see the obstacles that children had to overcome to get to school. We also examined the different factors that affect our quality of life such as clean air and water, education, employment, government and health to name a few.
In gym we practiced and then started playing basketball games. It has been quite competitive and we have to remember "it's only a game".
Greaves' group in math has been using the number line, greater than and less than and working on addition. McLellan's group had a short review assessment about mental math. Venn diagrams have come up in a few different subjects this week. We used them for quality of life as well as in math when we were sorting even and odd numbers. Venn diagrams have come in handy for comparing things.
In health we have had more lessons around whole body listening and how each of our body parts shows how we are thinking and paying attention to the speaker.
Our class has been reading Wonder by RJ Palacio. This story is very good, but also sad at the same time. We started part two that is the voice of Via.
