Learning about India has been very busy. We examined natural resources of India and how that affects the people who live there and their quality of life. In art we made connections with our learning about India and started making elephants on water colour paper with wax resist as a technique to create multimedia art. We followed a step by step set of instructions so our art had some unity.
Mr. Collins has set up the climber in gym during our gymnastics unit. With the climber we had several rules we needed to remember for safety, such as swinging on the ropes only one at a time, do not slide down equipment and do not climb around the apparatus.
In science we have been learning about the science of triangles. We had a building activity where we were challenged to make a tower with spaghetti, marshmallows and tape. We learned that triangles are strong and can build other shapes. Triangles are used for many structures and they add strength to structures.
In Mrs. McLellan's class is starting to learn about multiplication. We started off with some common ideas about multiplying by one and by zero. We know that division is the opposite of multiplication. Grade four students will be working on strategies for multiplying numbers up to 10 times 10. Grade 3 students will be using new strategies for multiplication up to 5 x 5.
In our health class we have been learning about ways we can deal with bullies and we continue to work on instilling Friendly February.
